The first edition of the Design in Motion Festival (DEMO) took place on 7 November 2019 at Amsterdam Central Station. As the first festival of its kind, DEMO showcased the finest motion work by studios, designers, emerging talents and academies from all around the world on 80 digital screens for 24 hours throughout the station.
2,700 motion design pieces from more than 70 countries were shortlisted by the DEMO committee made of Liza Enebeis, creative director at Studio Dumbar, Koos Breen, interdisciplinary designer and Xavier Monney, graphic and motion designer.
Among 11 themes such as ”Happy Hour”, “Better than Real”, “Stranger Things” and “Type Only”, the 400 moving creation of the 253 designers from 37 countries offered a program that changed every hour, creating a novel experience on the digital displays for the visitors of this gallery, which happened to be the Amsterdam train station.
