Grog-Dupit dans tous les cafés

Albert Guillaume

Albert Guillaume was a renowned cartoonist at the Belle Epoque and is well represented in the Gustave Dutailly collection, with no less that sixty items (posters, press illustrations, menus, programs, entrance tickets, etc.) Under the influence of the master of poster making, Jules Chéret, he created posters just as well for theatres as for advertising. As it was common at the time, Albert Guillaume based his communication on genre scenes, like in this poster representing a high-ranking officer. This character was not chosen arbitrarily and informs the spectator that Grog-Dupit is consumed by the military, representatives par excellence of manhood. In other words, if you want to be a man, have a Grog-Dupit!
