Floriane is a researcher and designer based in London. She studied fashion in Paris (France) before taking a more critical approach to design at Design Academy Eindhoven (Netherlands). She continued with a master’s degree in visual sociology at Goldsmiths University of London (UK) and recently started a PhD in the same discipline. Her practice explores creative ways of doing research by designing methods attentive to the sensorial, the emotional and the personal. She works with creative practitioners and students to consider how research methods can perform normative representations of social lives and reflect on the political motivations of their practices. Her own research particularly focuses on gender in visual culture. She studies practices of fashion photography that challenge how the clothing industry divides its market through womenswear and menswear. Besides, Floriane is involved in different projects connecting research, practice, and public engagement
