Collection Hors les Murs

Un baiser de Chaumont is an exhibition showcasing events from the Chaumont International Graphic Design Biennial, its famous International Poster Competition organised since 1990 and the Prix unique du livre, a selection of fine French books offered by Le Signe since 2021.

Opening: Friday 25 October at 7pm. Open to the public: Wednesday to Saturday, 2pm to 7pm.

The history of graphic design in Chaumont and le Signe, Centre national du graphisme, are intrinsically linked to the International Poster Competition. Its first edition, in 1990, coincided with the launch of the Chaumont International Poster and Graphic Design Festival.

The 26 editions of the Chaumont Festival paved the way for the opening of le Signe, Centre national du graphisme, which has taken over the organisation of this selection, on a biannual basis, since 2017.

For the 30th edition of the competition in 2023, le Signe has received more than 1,700 posters, each of which has been examined by an international jury of recognised professionals, to finally put together a selection of more than one hundred outstanding posters.

Quintal is a printing and publishing workshop specialising in risograph printing since 2018 and managed by Oscar Ginter, Cha Gautier, Emeline Martin and Emma René-Daguet. Quintal Atelier use the riso as its main printing medium with an interest to experiment thanks to its low cost and fast printing capability. The Publications of the studio are mainly based on a long term cooperation with the various artists and aims to be as heterogeneous as possible in its form and use of the printing technique.
