Götz Gramlich, founder of the gggrafik design studio, is a German graphic designer born in 1974. After studying communication design at the University of Applied Sciences in Darmstadt, he assisted the legendary Niklaus Troxler in Switzerland. He founded his studio Gggrafik design in 2005, established in Heidelberg. Today, member of AGI — Alliance Graphique Internationale, he dedicates his work mainly to cultural commissions ; graphic identities for theaters, such as Oberhausen and Darmstadt, communication for musical events like Jetztmusikfestival, as well as visual arts and institutions like the ZKM – Center for Art and Media in Karlsruhe.
Gramlich’s work has been featured worldwide for twenty years in international graphic events and poster competitions, such as the International Poster Biennial Mexico, Warsaw Poster Biennial, 100 Beste Plakate, Hong Kong International Poster Triennial, and many more.
Götz Gramlich is also the co-founder of the political poster festival Mut zur Wut ("courage to rage") ; an annual open call for posters, with critical, social, and political dimension. The festival displays a selection of posters in the streets of Heidelberg, creating an urban gallery that transforms public space into a place of resistance. Gramlich's involvement in this festival reflects both his social and political commitment and of his strong faith in the power of the poster. The exhibition at Le Signe in 2024 offers an opportunity to discover the multifaceted work of the designer with eclectic styles, who is as dedicated to processes as he is to questions of pictoriality.
