5e Biennale internationale de design graphique

Le Signe, National Center for Graphic Design, is hosting the highly anticipated 5th edition of its International Graphic Design Biennial from 21 May to 19 October , 2025.

Building on the legacy of Chaumont’s iconic Poster Festival, founded in 1990, the Biennial celebrates graphic design over five months, bringing together professionals and enthusiasts to share insights, explore current trends, and engage with the field’s key issues through numerous events held throughout the city—for everyone.

Three Competitions:

- The 31st International Poster Competition, with a jury including Agnès Dahan, Studio Super Terrain (Quentin Bodin, Luc de Fouquet, and Lucas Meyer), Studio Hammer (Sereina Rothenberger and David Schatz), as well as Thierry Groensteen (representing the Académie des Beaux-Arts) and Sébastien Marchal (for SAIF).

- The 27th Student Competition, featuring Marthe Nachtman, Justin Bihan, and Anja Kaiser in its jury.

- Prix unique du livre, a selection of the best book design chosen by Institut Sérigraphique, Éditions Matière, Maire-Mam Sai Bellier, and Elamine Maecha.

The Biennial’s extensive program highlights both emerging talents and renowned figures in the field of graphic design.

Program Highlights

As the heart of the Biennial, Le Signe will host three major exhibitions:

- The 31st International Poster Competition selection, showcasing the best in global graphic design.

- Noise, a collective exhibition curated by Jean-Michel Géridan, exploring the impact of graphic design and its mediums on music itself.

- Simenon Simenon, an exhibition by Élodie Boyer, highlighting the vibrant graphic design of paperback collections dedicated to the famous novelist Georges Simenon.

- The Prix unique du livre exhibition.

Nestled in Chaumont’s historic district since the 18th century, the Institut du patrimoine haut-marnais will host three exhibitions:

- Metalogo, curated by Sébastien Hayez, investigating the diverse visual identities of metal music scenes.

- ANRT Anniversary Exhibition, celebrating 10 years of the Atelier National de Recherche Typographique.

- FanArt, a letter and sound exhibition conceived by Hélène Marian.

Two partner exhibitions will further enrich the Biennale :

- H5: voir la French Touch at La Chapelle, presented by the City of Chaumont.

- Messages/Images : graphisme d’intérêt général, organized by CNAP at Espace Bouchardon.
